VorTeX is a high-quality, device-independent, document processing systemthat has the advantages of source-based systems (e.g., TeX) and WYSIWYGsystems. VorTeX tools include DVI previewers for use under SunTools andthe X Window System, a PostScript interpreter with outline fonts,extensive EMACS macros, various printer drivers, font editors, and auto-indexing programs.UCBPS -- a faithful implementation of the PostScript page descriptionlanguage under Berkeley UNIX. Features of VorTex include:

DVItool -- a previewer for DVI files.
DVI2x -- a previewer for DVI files, which runs under the X Window

System. Versions for both X10 and X11 are available.

PXtool -- a SPARC-based font editor for PXL files.
A large Lisp library for use with Stallman's EMACS.
Dvitoip -- a DVI-to-INTERPRESS filter for using Xerox printers for DVI

output.

Gr2ps -- a program which converts gremlin files to PostScript.
Makeindex -- a general-purpose index processor.
Tools for managing fonts including type 3 to type 1 converters, etc.
